A specialist in 19th
-century decorative art and a graduate of the École Nationale des Chartes and the École Nationale du Patrimoine, Olivier Gabet, 37 years, began his career as a curator at the Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris, where he was in charge of the furniture and objets d’art collection. In January 2005, he joined the Musée d’Orsay as curator of decorative art from 1850-1900, with responsibility for the “Correspondances” contemporary art programme. In January 2008 he joined Agence France Muséum, manager of the Louvre Abu Dhabi project, initially as curator of decorative art then as deputy scientific director, taking part notably in the development of the scientific project and acquisitions policy.
He is replacing Béatrice Salmon.
