Les Arts Décoratifs, more than any other institution, is grateful to the generosity and interest of collectors, patrons, donors and its various partner firms past and present.
A state-approved non-profit-making organisation, Les Arts Décoratifs was the creation of collectors, patrons of the arts and manufacturers.
Its collections, gradually amassed since its creation, now comprise over 150,000 works, more than 90% of which were generous gifts or bequests – a tradition which has never waned, because today, each year, works are still joining our decorative arts, fashion, textiles and advertising collections.
For the new museum’s opening, Les Arts Décoratifs is paying tribute to its donors past and present with 20 portraits of major donors by the cartoonist Floc’h.
Les Arts Décoratifs would also like to thank all its patrons – individuals, foundations and firms – who chose to lend their support to the opening of the new Musée des Arts Décoratifs. During the period of closure, our institution embarked on an extremely active fund-raising campaign to complement the funds allotted by the state.
Created by Hélène David-Weill, the International Committee includes over 60 foreign patrons with a passion for France and the decorative arts. Their efforts have been complemented by the support of the museum’s board of governors and Les Amis des Arts Décoratifs. Some twenty firms and foundations have also chosen to support the museum’s refurbishment and associate their image with that of Les Arts Décoratifs.
